Born to musical parents, David Greenwood's early life was a mix of the swirling psychedelic rock stylings of his radio DJ fathers tastes and the show tune ditties of his Mum. His grandmother was a classically trained singer, so you can see why David appreciates all genres of music. David was born in Christchurch, New Zealand a place famous for birthing the likes of Lorde, Russell Crowe, Peter Jackson and Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords. Dave appeared in his first leading role as a child growing up in a normal world not too dissimilar to these celebrities afore mentioned. At the age of 6 he took to the piano and over the years he became quite accomplished. In later years he learnt the saxophone & was classically trained in vocal studies. Dave has performed since he was 12 and became kind of a big deal in his lounge room during High School. He started disappearing into film scores in his senior year and experimenting with the sounds and compositions from there. After school and in the years following Dave has put his talents to various projects. These include and aren’t limited to playing in various bands and session recordings, recording and producing an instrumental album ‘Essence’. A highlight was playing piano live at a local Jazz Club ‘The Ellington’ with commercial musician Danni Stefanetti. Dave also added playwriting/directing of stage productions to his repertoire with the plays, ‘Any Given Monday’ (2006), ‘At The Inn’ (2007) & ‘The Ricky Cheeseman Show’ (2010). In 2014 he was awarded a scholarship at Berklee College of Music which he used to complete his Masters Certificate in Arranging & Orchestration and is almost to completion of his Specialist Certificate majoring in Film & TV Composition. ‘Music is what feelings sound like’ is a motto that resonates through every facet of his world. He excels in anything he puts his mind and ability to. He also makes a great deconstructed Pumpkin Pie for Thanksgiving.
